Catch-up Post #3

A NEW PLAY SPACE!
For the past month Aaron has been working on our back yard! I am so proud of all the hard work he has put in. Our yard drops off in the back and we decided that we wanted to make the space useable for socializing around fire-pits. It looked a little like this before. (This is a pic of our neighbors. I forgot to take a before picture of ours.)

Aaron started out by weed-whacking like crazy and killed everything growing on our hill. Then in only ONE day, Aaron dug out the bottom of the hill to create a flat space for our fire-pit.

The next weekend we had gravel delivered and were so relieved that all the neighbors pitched in to help! It was ALOT of work! See how happy everyone was to help? :)

Even Malia was quite helpful.

We set out to buy chairs to sit around the fire pit. It was all coming together very nicely!
Here's a close-up of the kiddos enjoying their new play-space too.
We decided we needed to create some stairs down to our new play-space. Aaron drew out a plan using railroad ties. They all needed to be sawed in half.

My job was drilling holes for the rebar.

Looking good! 1/2 way done!

Finished! (Aaron worked on these every sunbreak we had!)

The "almost" finished product. We have since lined the sides with plants and solar lights, but I will take pictures after we lay down barkdust so that you get the whole effect.

I love you Aaron! Thanks for all of your hard work!
