What an an awesome day we had!
It began with an early morning 5k where Laura and I won 3rd place for our age division. Did you notice she cheated and ran bib-less? Lol. The announcers named her the ‘pace-setter’ and kept calling me ‘Holly Brewer!’
I love my cousin! She always makes running fun, and is such a good motivator!
After the run we hung out for a couple hours, enjoyed the sunshine, and waited for the parade to begin. Aaron got his early morning exercise after he rode his bike into town to meet us!
I love my girls! Even IF they don’t look anything like me…
A couple things are tradition here at the Ridgefield parade. At 11am, Air Force Jets fly over our town to commence the beginning of the parade. (They are too fast to get a picture of and catch you by surprise EVERY year!) We also got to enjoy some other local planes this year too…
Another traditional activity along the parade route is getting your free hotdog, chips, and drink from the church of the Nazarene, a.k.a. the free hot dog church. They are the nicest people!
So many people attend our little town parade, which makes people-watching all the more entertaining. We loved the floats too! The theme was American movies and everyone did such a good job!
Laelle, Malia and Landon lined up to collect their candy!
It was fun watching Malia cover her ears for loud sounds and wave to the things she really liked.
The kids adore Auntie Laura!
Walking back to the truck…
Charity and the kids walked to town from home and hitched a ride back with us. Laura and I got squished in the back.
Back at home, all of us neighbors brought out our pools and let our kids pool-hop. It was a fun way to enjoy the nice weather.
Aaron and I even got HOT enough to join in the fun!
These water tables are awesome too.
After drying out it was time for a family portrait in our Old Navy flag shirts where for ONCE we all had the same year of shirts. Then it was BBQ time!
After dinner we played a game of kickball. Our team kicked butt!
Malia was apprehensive about the fireworks. It took a lot of bribery to get her to hold on to a sparkler AND smile at the same time.
Malia was a scaredy-cat… stinker.
But not Allie!
This was us enjoying all the firework happenings in the culdesac. Malia did NOT move from this position until she decided she wanted to go to bed instead of having to watch them.
A cool firework pic:
Boys… always love them some fire and works!
It was an awesome show complete with fireworks, Pink Floyd in concert (projected in the background), and a fire pit.
What a night!
