Camping: Zeller style

Friday afternoon we drove up to Federal Way to meet up with my cousin Collette and her new hubby David, where they took us on a camping adventure unlike any other! It began with a rugged trip through some wild forest roads where we got to watch the sun set over the mountains and hills.

After a bumpy ride we pulled over to an open area, set up camp, then awoke to a warm, sunshiny morning and a gorgeous view!

Now THAT’s camping!

Despite the beauty it was much too hot exposed at the top of the mountain we were on, and Allie was being WAY too fussy since we couldn’t put her down on the dirt filled with glass bottle shards and gun shells. So… we packed up and headed down towards a beautiful meadow David had heard about. On the way we stopped for a pretty snap-shot.

It was fun using our truck for such a manly ride.

We stopped for a picnic lunch at a place called “Horse Meadows.” It was pretty. Malia had fun building her sand castle with flowers.

There were tons of nasty bugs at this place. Thank goodness for the Zeller Zapper!

While camping there is usually a part of the time where we try not to let the girls get too dirty… and then once dirty enough, we just stop caring because there really is no use…

We went on a hike in search of this grassy meadow…

… and found it! It was beautiful. It was cool because it wasn’t like it was a clear-cut… it really was a meadow.

We also came across a cool cabin.

After getting eaten alive by mosquitos, we 4-wheeled again to a new destination for dinner and a fire pit… thankfully it was mosquito free!

Beautiful. And… once the kids fell asleep… relaxing.

Since we didn’t have a gun (who knows what sort of folk roll around those areas up there), and the Zeller’s couldn’t stay another night, we left for home when dark settled in. It was a long drive, but we really had a great time: progressive camping we’ll call it… a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the Northwest!
