We brought in the New Year with a wonderful and relaxing get-away to Cannon Beach, OR. The weather was amazingly beautiful (despite 30 degree temperatures), and it surprised us with ZERO rain! This was our first real trip since having Allie and we are happy to report that both girls had a great time! They make fun trips like this SUPER easy!
We loved our little cottage. It was within 2 blocks of the shops and a short-walk to the beach.
We could even see the ocean from beautiful bay windows in the kitchen!
Malia could not wait to get to the ocean! She was so excited! We laugh looking at these pictures… only in the NW would you see perfectly clear skies, the ocean, and winter coats!
We think Malia was confused by the fact that she was wearing her coat and gloves, but playing in the sand. She kept making “snow-balls” and throwing them at us.

Aaron brought a clamming thing-a-ma-jig. Apparently the best luck for clamming though is up at Long Beach in WA.
Allie’s first visit to the Beach!
It’s always fun to see how bundled up kids can get!
On our second full day at the beach (New Year’s Day), we headed up for fun in Seaside, OR.
A traditional ‘must-do’ in Seaside!
We had a super long day this day, but were so glad that we got the chance to watch the sun set! It was beautiful! Even Malia got a kick out of the sun going ‘night, night' behind the ocean. Even now she will say “oh no! It’s dark outside! Sun went into the ocean!”
We stopped by the beach in Cannon before leaving, and it was another glorious day!
We can’t wait for more fun trips to take as a family this year!
